What we do
Hangar 5 Aviation provides professional, custom flight training to owners of aircraft interested in expanding their flight envelope by earning a licence, adding a rating, or developing new skills.
Instructors
Instruction is primarily provided by Justin Miller, an Airline Transport Pilot with experience in 85 different types of aircraft totalling almost 10,000 hours as a flight instructor and regional airline training captain. Justin has been instructing since 2003 and holds a Class 1 Flight Instructor rating.
How we work
Aircraft
We're not a traditional flight school, we're technically a flight training service. This distinction is subtle but important. As a flight training service, Hangar 5 Aviation doesn't rent aircraft; we only instruct in aircraft provided by the customer.
Location
We primarily work out of the lower mainland of BC but, depending on your goals, we're willing to work with you at your airport though additional charges may apply.
Appointments
We'll work with you to find a schedule that meets your needs, taking into account work and family responsibilities.
Rates
Appointments are $275 and provide a 3 hour block to ensure you're not rushed on the ground or in the air and we have time to get it right. If a 3 hour block doesn't meet your needs, contact us for a quote.

Pre-flight Briefings
While not as exciting as flying, thorough pre-flight briefings are critical to your success as a student and a pilot. We'll take the time to go through procedures, maneuvers, and key factors in detail so you know exactly what to expect and what's expected of you.
Flights
We strive to create a relaxed, stress-free environment for you to learn. Flights generally last between 1 and 1.5 hours with routes specific to the objective.
Post-flight Briefings
Just as pre-flight briefings are essential to the success of a flight, post-flight briefings are critical to retaining the information and improving. We'll provide you with a report analyzing your performance, identifying what went well and where you need to focus.
Membership
As a customer of Hangar 5 Aviation, you'll have access to our members section containing articles, advice, trip reports and more.
